Today we are going to chat about the importance of healthy pelvic floor muscles- YAWN!!!!!! Lets get real about this because its often spoken about in the most boring of ways-
Why do I want a healthy pelvic floor?
Well, to be blunt, I don't feel like peeing myself when I jump or sneeze or laugh. I also don't want to wake up one day and find my uterus hanging out from between my legs. It might just be me, but I don't think that sounds like fun.
I also want to have awesome sex and mind-blowing orgasms…. So I think giving a few squeezes a couple of times a day isn’t too much of a sacrifice!
So! To get and keep my pelvic floor muscles in shape Ifirst off had a chat to Tabitha from Kangatraining Ballarat! She recommended daily squats and kegels and encouraged me to download the Pelvic Floor First App which is made for pregnant women to keep their hoo-haa’s happy!
Hows it work?- First off download the app onto your phone. It will ask for your DOB and your name and ask you to put in three times that suit you for the app to send you reminders to get your squeeze on. I chose 10am, 2pm and 6pm.
I then told the app how far along I am in my pregnancy and that was that!
Later that day a cheerful reminder told me to get my squeeze on which I did, easily!
So far Im loving the app. Just having the icon on my phone reminds me to live in more pelvic-ly healthy ways, such as not doing wide squats etc!
As well as kegeling my butt off, I also plan to squat my butt off with daily squat excersies, becuase like I said I want to have awesome sex, I want an easy recovery after birth and I don't want to wet myself.
